All Premier Lifeguard courses require participants to complete an online blended learning course as well as 2 days of onsite classroom and in-water training. By registering for either day you are automatically enrolled in both days, so please register for only one date.

The purpose of the Orange County American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over.

We teach out of our Aliso Viejo Aquatic Center: 29 Santa Barbara Drive, Aliso Viejo CA 92656.

Course Prerequisites

  • Participants must be 15 years old
  • Participants must complete the required online course before attending the registered 2 day course

COURSE FEE

$250.00 Payable to Premier Aquatics upon registration

(Participant is responsible for bringing their own CPR Mask, however masks can be purchased when you arrive for a $20.00 fee.

Lifeguard Certification

On successful completion of the Lifeguarding course, participants receive American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED. On successful completion of the Shallow Water Lifeguarding course, participants receive an American Red Cross certificate for Shallow Water Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED.

To successfully complete the Lifeguarding/Shallow Water Lifeguarding course, the participant must:

  • Attend and participate in all class sessions.
  • Demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities.
  • Demonstrate competency in all required final rescue skill scenarios.
  • Pass both the Section 1—CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid and Section 2-Lifeguarding/Shallow Water Lifeguarding Skills final written exams with minimum grades of 80 percent.

Important Lifeguard Training Information

Course Outline

DAY 1 

* Must bring printed copy of completed online blended learning course certificate.

  • Swim Test: Continuous 300 yard swim, continuous 2 minute water tread and one timed brick carry
  • Lifeguarding Presentation
  • CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid

DAY 2

  • Completion of in-water skills and test outs
  • Pass both CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid and Lifeguarding Skills final written exams with minimum grades of 80%

COURSE TRANSFER/CANCELLATION FEE

There is a $25 cancellation/transfer fee for all Health and Safety Classes. For courses cancelled less than 48 hours before the course offering, there will be no refunds.
